Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the largest facility in the Northwest, was experiencing rapid growth in its passenger service. In order to accommodate increased capacity, the Port of Seattle embarked on an ambitious expansion program consisting of expanded terminal facilities, a runway addition, baggage handling systems, rental car facilities, and more than 100 other projects from concessions to airline tenant offices.
Heery was selected to represent the Port of Seattle in providing program management services for this over $2 billion expansion program, ensuring that the design and construction of this complex series of projects fit the needs of the airport and was delivered on time and within budget. Heery also provided construction safety consulting, LEED consulting and commissioning services.
More than 100 distinct projects were involved in this program, including a 640,000 SF expansion to Sea-Tac’s Concourse A. A detailed phasing was implemented to avoid interrupting or interfering with airport operations during lengthy construction periods. Experienced in large-scale, complex programs, Heery was successful in managing design, construction, schedule, budget, commissioning, and development of the construction safety program.
“Heery was instrumental in the success of the overall program and was able to provide experienced and expert resources in a timely manner. I especially attribute their outstanding leadership in the establishment and continued development of a first class construction safety program that became a model of other agencies in the region.”
