White Horse Village opens new Steeplechase Dining

Since its inception in 1989, White Horse Village (WHV) has provided a full range of retirement lifestyles rooted in excellence all within a vibrant community made of people who care. Located on 100-acres of beautiful countryside in Western Delaware County, Pennsylvania, the not-for-profit, CCRC-accredited retirement community serves a population aged 62 years and older. Over the past decade, WHV has endeavored to accommodate the growing interest in its senior living community by expanding and renovating its campus to include additional residential housing, dining venues and healthcare facility centers.

CBRE | Heery’s relationship with WHV began in 2006 when the community approached the firm’s Philadelphia office to manage its extensive expansion and phased renovation program. WHV features over 300 units of housing, plus health care support for long-term care. The multi-building, multi-phased construction program occurred over the course of 2.5 years. The program added 22 country-style homes, a wellness center and indoor pool with renovations made to the existing fitness center and community library. With the addition of independent living units, two new healthcare centers were constructed on the property to include a supporting number of skilled nursing beds, assisted living beds and outpatient offices as well as a beauty salon, activity rooms, a physical therapy department and housekeeping space. The entire program consisted of 15 individual projects of various types – Residential, Healthcare, Food Service, Hospitality and Commercial – within the same occupied, functioning CCRC campus. On-time and within budget, the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Mid-Atlantic Chapter awarded CBRE | Heery and the White Horse Village Expansion Program with the Project Achievement Award for Private Residential over $20 million.

Since the successful completion of its $20 million expansion and renovation program in 2010, WHV has engaged CBRE | Heery in additional projects including 1,000,000 square feet of shingle re-roofing and campus repaving, a 6,486 square foot Café renovation, and room upgrades to its Four Seasons memory support unit.

Most recently, White Horse Village held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate its new Steeplechase Dining. From upscale and formal restaurants to casual, pub-like lounges, the new dining venues at Steeplechase boast high ceilings and outdoor views, promising residents a relaxed, entertaining atmosphere at each of its establishments. CBRE | Heery Senior Construction Project Manager Matt Eskridge celebrated with WHV residents, staff and the project team the Steeplechase Dining’s successful completion last month. The 10,000 square foot renovation was completed in just under nine months with renovations made in a midst WHV’s thriving and active retirement community.

Immediately following the completion of Steeplechase Dining, CBRE | Heery, serving as Owners Representative, is working with the White Horse Village project team on 16,000 square feet of hallway renovations throughout its apartments buildings. The latest project is expected to complete by the end of this year.
