The University of Arizona Football Stadium North Endzone project earned LEED Gold Certification for the structure’s strong environmental performance. The UA/A/E team integrated several energy and environmental components into the project including air lock primary entrances, energy-efficient lighting systems to reduce energy use and energy efficient HVAC systems where overall energy use is reduced to 16% less than code. In addition, the team reduced water use by 30%, recycled 75% of construction waste, used new materials with recycled content, CO2 monitoring and demand controls and used materials with low VOC content. Expansion of the university’s green cleaning program and incorporation of a green pest management plan was included in the design.
