The University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) retained Heery to design the $8 million renovation of its three-story health center/infirmary. The goal of the project was to enhance the university’s ability to deliver quality health services to the students on campus.
The scope of work consisted of the comprehensive renovation of the existing three-story, 29,000 SF health center and the addition of approximately 15,000 SF of primary clinical care space. Heery led a collaborative design effort, which included input from the facilities design and construction group, student health services, student affairs and representatives from physical plant. Major healthcare functions planned for the facility include general medical clinic space, women’s clinic, immunization, laboratory, radiology, medical records, pharmacy, counseling and testing, wellness center, environmental health safety and administration functions.
The mission of student health services is to maintain the physical, psychological, environmental and health education needs of UNCG students. This mission is fulfilled through the delivery of primary, preventative and educational services, which are responsive, accessible and of high quality. As a health organization operating within an academic institution, the student health services department is also committed to the support of educational, research and service missions of the university.
