UHS Pruitt
Norcross, Georgia
Originally based in Toccoa, Georgia, UHS Pruitt’s new 102,000 SF corporate headquarters in Norcross represents a new face for the company and a consolidation of various offices across the state. UHS Pruitt hired Heery to provide interior design, engineering and construction management services at risk to transform a two-story former computer warehouse into its new corporate headquarters.
The design concept for the space is rooted in UHS Pruitt’s logo of a tree and the company’s commitment to caring and ideas of nurture. With green as the corporate color, this was the foundation of the palette, and the carpet throughout represents this. To contrast the carpet, the wall finishes are neutral and earthy to visually reference nature. The ceiling is a very important element within the overall concept, as the building, which has few windows, lets very little daylight penetrate the offices. A white exposed ceiling is used to give the space more volume and openness, while the use of suspended direct/indirect fixtures reduces glare and maintains a bright atmosphere in what could potentially be a very dark building. A feeling of understated elegance is shown in the restrained composition and use of materials throughout the space.
Being able to house all divisions in one building and providing new amenities to employees has boosted morale and cemented the company in its commitment to caring. The space, overall, is a strong fit for the well-established company that is UHS Pruitt.
