As Program and Construction Manager, Heery started at the programming phase of this project and managed it through construction completion.

Heery utilized a fast-track strategy with multiple phases and sequences; managed four separate design teams, over 30 multiple-prime contractors and all inspection; and coordinated four distinct funding sources, including two public bond issues.

UCLA considers this project to be one of its most successful ever in terms of planning, construction, schedule, cost and overall quality.

Project Accomplishments

  • Heery’s value engineering yielded $14 Million in cost reductions, thereby keeping the final construction cost at 5% below the project budget.
  • Heery’s phasing & procurement strategies accelerated the original project schedule by two years, which saved the University millions of dollars in cost escalation and interest on debt, and brought the Medical Plaza’s substantial income-generating capacity on line early.
