Tennessee Technology Centers - Capital Projects Management

One of Tennessees major initiatives recently was a complete overhaul of its vocational technical education centers, now called the Tennessee Technology Centers (TTC).  As part of Heerys appointment as the states statewide building program manager, Heery managed new construction, additions and renovations at all 26 technology center campuses throughout the state.  At a cumulative cost of more than $100 million, individual projects range from $40,000 to re-roof a building to $4.5 million for an aviation facility to $10 million for an addition and renovation to the TTC Memphis campus.

Heery's responsibilities were to assist the states existing staff in the management of the projects, including paying close attention to reducing change orders.  Heery reduced the states change order rate to 1/3 the industry average simply by plan review.
