Ripken Stadium

Aberdeen, Maryland

The Maryland Stadium Authority hired Heery to provide preconstruction and construction management support services on this new 6,000-seat minor league baseball stadium that is home to the Aberdeen IronBirds.  In June, 2002 Ripken Stadium opened its doors after 15 months of construction. The ballpark opened to rave reviews and the IronBirds enjoyed sellout crowds for each of their 38 home games in the first season at Ripken Stadium.

Visible from Interstate 95, this facility has 2,000 adjacent parking spaces and is located on 30 acres in Aberdeen, Maryland.  The site also includes the adjacent Ripken Youth Baseball Academy which features additional training facilities including six youth baseball fields, dormitories, mess hall and recreation facilities.  The Youth Academy hosts the annual Babe Ruth League’s “Cal Ripken Division World Series”.  Babe Ruth Baseball, an organization of over one million youth players nationwide, plays a very visible role at the complex.
