Regions Bank Parking - Riverchase North Parking Deck

The number of people using AmSouth Bank’s Riverchase office complex grew extensively over an eight–year period, contributing to a significant parking availability problem. To address this issue, the bank asked Heery International, already working on several projects at AmSouth’s Riverchase complex, to conduct a comprehensive parking master plan study of the 90-acre campus.

The Riverchase North Parking Deck, the first project to be implemented from this planning study,  addressed  parking capacity issues and provided enough excess space to prevent AmSouth from having to shuttle employees to remote parking locations. AmSouth retained Heery, who was already serving as AmSouth’s program manager for the Riverchase Operations Center, to manage the same design and construction team from the Riverchase Operations Center project to deliver the parking deck.  This allowed AmSouth to take advantage of the existing relationships and procedures, economies of mobilization for the general contractor and purchasing arrangements already in place.

The 150,000 SF deck was placed over existing surface parking previously prepped for a parking structure.  The new deck provides 449 new structured spaces and retains 303 existing spaces for a total incremental increase of 398 spaces. Security features include security cameras and call boxes.

Construction on the $4.3 million deck was completed in 2003.
