Primrose School

Atlanta, Georgia

Heery is excited to join in the celebration as noted childcare provider Primrose Schools unveiled its new flagship urban school in Atlanta, Ga. Heery’s interior designers and architects were not only responsible for developing the design model for this first urban center, but for managing the transformation of a former Midtown Atlanta office environment into a secure, child-friendly educational center. The 18,700 SF school, which offers direct and secure elevator access from the building’s parking deck, houses twelve classrooms and three outdoor playgrounds with age appropriate equipment.

“It’s exciting to work with a company as they embrace a new vision,” notes Heery Interior Designer and Project Manager Jason Mourray, ASID. “Primrose CEO Jo Kirchner envisioned a new model for childcare facilities that would make it easier for parents to live and raise their children in urban environments. Our challenge was to develop an urban concept that broke the mold as they knew it, provide a space that was familiar to Primrose families and ensure that the design would be adaptable for future locations.”

Despite the urban setting, families will feel like they are stepping into a modern interpretation of a craftsman style home, inspired by the bungalows scattered across surrounding neighborhoods. Heery is currently beginning discussions on the company’s second urban facility and will serve as the architect for all of the future urban centers.
