Oklahoma State University - Boone Pickens Stadium Renovation and Expansion
Stillwater, Oklahoma
Heery International developed a masterplan for the phased renovation and expansion of Lewis Field at Boone Pickens Stadium, reflecting the Georgian vernacular of the existing campus and the masonry materials of the adjacent arena. The three-phased plan includes upgrades to all existing toilet and concession facilities, as well as bringing the seating capacity from the pre-existing 49,245 to approximately 73,000 seats.
A portion of the new seating included outdoor club seats with private lounge and concession facilities. Also included in the seating mix were private suites with automatic roll-up windows to bring the game atmosphere into the suite environment. In addition, fans throughout the stadium are now able to see close-up and replay action from video boards, which have been installed in the four corners of the stadium.
As an option for all phases, plans included upper deck concourses and upper deck seating for the south and north grandstands, and the west end zone. Future work was planned to include new bridge connections from the south and north grandstands to the Gallagher–Iba Arena located in the east end zone.
Heery worked in association with Gary Sparks Architects to provide architectural and engineering services. The $28 million first phase renovation was completed in 2005. In addition to architecture and engineering services, Heery provided graphics/signage design.
