Heery served as program manager for the $61 million addition and renovation for Oak Ridge High School. Design features to upgrade the campus for the 21st century included a dramatic rotunda entryway that brings ample light into the facility, state-of-the-art amphitheatre, gym that can be expanded to seat 2,500, renovated performing arts theater, new music rooms, labs, and media center. The gym, amphitheatre and performing arts theater were designed with community use in mind.
The extensive project, strategically divided into more than a dozen phases to accommodate demolition and construction on an occupied site, raised the caliber of this facility to that of its excellent teaching staff. Staff and students were rerouted numerous times during construction, as just about every space in the original six building, 200,000 SF campus required renovation during occupancy.
