Miami International Airport - North Terminal Development

Miami, Florida

Miami Dade Aviation Department retained Sequeira & Gavarrete Inc., a Heery International Company, to provide program management services for the development and expansion of North Terminal at Miami International Airport. The $2.6 billion dollar project merges Concourses A, B, C, and D into a single, 1.3 mile linear concourse (3.5 million SF of new construction and renovations) with a total of 50 gates.  Miami International Airport is amongst the busiest airports in the world with over 32.5 million passengers yearly, consisting of both domestic and international flights.  A new rooftop automated people mover with four stations will optimize passenger flow throughout the facility.  With a track length of 8,500 LF and five trains, the people mover has the capacity to transport 9,000 passengers per hour.  The new Federal Inspection Services area, 400,000 SF in size, incorporates 72 service lanes with a total capacity to process 3,600 international passengers per hour.  The design will accommodate four security check points with 16 lanes separating secure and public circulation.  Processing 45,000 bags per day, the baggage handling system stretches 9.5-miles in length.  North Terminal will be occupied by American Airlines, its one-world Alliance and code share airline partners, and will integrate operations for American Eagle.
