Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools

Nashville, Tennessee

Over the past 14 years, Heery has worked continuously for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), touching every one of the district’s 130 facilities. Over five separate assignments, Heery has helped MNPS  complete nearly $800 million in projects by providing project management and staff augmentation for new construction and renovation.  Assignments have also included extensive existing conditions surveys and addressing deferred maintenance and ADA upgrades.

Because of Heerys excellent performance record, the school board extended Heerys initial contract in 1996; then Heery was competitively selected again in 1998 for the next building program — “Building Nashville’s Future” — and that contract was again extended in 2006 for the third phase.  MNPS has repeatedly selected Heery for additional services as well, including a series of existing conditions surveys at 100 schools and an ongoing deferred maintenance program.

The current program encompasses modifications for ADA compliance, HVAC upgrades at five middle school gymnasiums, renovation of physical education rooms at four elementary schools, upgrades of middle school athletic fields, upgrades to Pre-K playgrounds at 33 locations, roof replacements and repairs, $54 million in technology upgrades, bus and vehicle replacements and miscellaneous projects involving security, environmental and maintenance emergencies, as well as furniture and equipment.  Heery also oversees MNPS’s fleet of portables classrooms, supervising the storage, movement, placement and utilization of these flexible tools.
