Los Angeles Unified School District - Region 2 Modernization Program

San Fernando Valley, California

In 2007, Heery International was retained by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to modernize the school facilities of 139 school campuses at seven schools in the Sylmar, San Fernando, Verdugo Hills, Francis Poly, Van Nuys, Grant, and North Hollywood districts.

The modernizations are part of a $19.3 billion voter-approved funding package to build new schools and upgrade existing ones throughout the district, providing all students with equal access to top-notch facilities in their communities. Heery’s role spans all construction management functions, from estimating, constructability reviews, scheduling, and assuring compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for each project.

The upgrades to existing facilities encompass 40 project categories, from replacing fire alarm and air conditioning systems to building new food service facilities. The modernizations represent more than $100 million total budget presently in construction of an overall program with a present value of more than $261 million in renovation projects that Heery is or will be overseeing through completion in 2010.
