Lakeland Regional Medical Center
Lakeland, Florida
Heery Design joined the Lakeland Regional Medical Center (LRMC) team to develop and implement a master plan to accommodate new caregiver teams and improve physician, staff and patient satisfaction. The patient-focused approach encompassed re-engineering traditional care team tasks; decentralizing administrative, registration, and clinical support services; and modernizing patient care areas to support specific populations, yet provide facility flexibility for changes in patient mix.
Following the goals of the master plan, Heery Design has provided continuous architecture and engineering services to the hospital since 1993, and this work has included upgrades, renovations and new construction, as well as masterplanning, wayfinding and site planning projects.
Heery’s most recent project at the hospital is the addition of a new, eight-level patient bed tower that houses 192 single and 40 dual-occupancy patient rooms, a new hospital kitchen, various patient support spaces, administration, offices and patient/staff meeting rooms. The tower was designed to provide a modern interpretation of the existing campus vernacular, reflecting the massing and color of the older towers, while introducing a glass curtain wall that establishes a new, dynamic image for the hospital.
