Glasgow Airport - Stage II Development

United Kingdom

As BAA's project manager, Heery developed the brief and cost model, balancing these with the project schedule. In order to satisfy BAA's budget constraints, Heery worked on the brief to achieve budget savings, taking over a cost model at £110 million and reducing the cost to BAA's target of £60 million.

BAA requested spreading the cost over a greater period to optimize cash flow, so the development was split into two projects, Stage 2A and Stage 2B, with budgets of £40 million and £20 million respectively. Heery successfully reduced the clients budget, while retaining in the brief a facility matching the BAA’s requirements.

Having divided the design period into concept, schematic, design development and construction document phases, Heery managed the whole of the design process, including detailed coordination of  the design team; review of design documentation to verify adherence to BAA’s quality levels; regular cost reviews; resource planning to maintain design schedule; review and brief development with the client, as well as full design phase reports to BAA.
