Denver Health - Medical Center Expansion and Renovation Projects

Heery has been providing design services for Denver Health since 1997, completing 12 individual projects, mostly involving complex, phased expansion and renovation projects. 

One of the most recent projects included the surgery expansion and renovation, which was a six-phase, 40,000 SF addition along the north side of unit one, which provides a new, unified exterior for Denver Health. More important, the project increased Denver Health’s surgical capacity from seven to 14 OR’s, without impacting ongoing operations during construction.

Heery has played a key role in the phased renovation of virtually all of the existing patient floors in unit one. Each of these projects required a great deal of planning skill and coordination in order to minimize the impacts of construction on existing patient care services and bed capacity. The result of this five-year effort is an efficient, modern and patient-friendly upgrade that greatly improves Denver Health’s position in the marketplace and supports its mission of care.

Heery has also assisted Denver Health in numerous campus planning studies over the past 10 years, including the initial MICU concept plan, materials management facility assessment, and the first floor unit one study which has led to the current expansion project now under way. Heery has also explored potential uses for underutilized sites around the Denver Health campus for future clinical and administrative services.
