DeKalb County Facilities Assessments

DeKalb County, Georgia

In an effort to make the best use of its real estate assets, DeKalb County selected Heery International to analyze operational issues and facility requirements for county departments and to assess the ability of its current facilities to meet those needs. Over a 90-day period, Heery conducted facility assessments of more than a half-million square feet in five buildings and the 25 operating departments within those buildings.

Based on these findings, Heery developed long-range facility plans to support the county’s move toward customer-focused service delivery, along with recommendations for meeting facility requirements for the next five, 10 and 15 years. The final report provides strategies for space allocation, renovation, acquisition and facility construction.

Heery brought a strong history in strategic facilities planning and analysis for local governments, as well as experience with DeKalb County on its courthouse expansion and renovation, to this project.  Heery has also provided strategic facilities planning for Cherokee County and Forsyth County in Ga.; Rutherford County, Tenn.; Beaufort County and Wake County in N.C.; city of Greenville, S.C.; and the city of Tampa, Fla.
