Department of Administrative Services (DAS) - Central Data Center
Salem, Oregon
Heery provided a full range of commissioning services for this new, $110 million computer data processing and storage center supporting nine state agencies. The highly complex and intensively-serviced building is a major process hub operating night and day. The fast-paced design-build project was constructed to meet the Oregon SEED energy and environmental performance standards – standards equivalent to those of a LEED Silver certified building.
Due to the vital nature of the facility, the mechanical and electrical systems were designed to Uptime Institute’s TIER III standards, with requirements for N+1 redundancy and multiple paths/routing of piping and electrical supplies from source to individual pieces of equipment. As a result, the facility’s infrastructure is extremely reliable, meeting the requirements of the state. Heery provided in-depth technical review and verification of all design documentation and submittals and identified potential problems that would have prevented safe operation of the facility. The infrastructure was designed to support up to 55-watts/SF of data hall loading, with built-in infrastructure to support expansion to 110-watts/SF. This fast-paced project broke ground in September 2004 and was completed in October 2005. Heery completed warranty work on the project in April 2006.
