City of Baltimore Schools - Schools Technology Project
Baltimore, Maryland
Heery has reunited with the Baltimore City Public School System under an on-call construction management contract. To date, Heery has managed the design and construction of Harbor City Learning Center and Cecil Elementary School. Currently Heery is working on technical wiring projects within the district.
The Baltimore office opened in 1974 to manage a large, multi-school program for Baltimore City Public Schools. The school district was the office’s first client. At that time, the firm’s work for the school system was to build new schools. Today, Heery’s contract is to provide construction management for renovations and upgrades to existing, occupied schools. Harbor City Learning Center is an alternative senior high school that implements an interdisciplinary approach for its students. Renovations included interiors, new HVAC and power systems, new classroom layouts, new window wall systems and the addition of data and telecommunications systems.
Cecil Elementary’s $4.8 million project called for the renovation of the 20-year-old school including mechanical/electrical upgrades, ADA, life safety, painting and other areas to improve the atmosphere for learning.
