Citizen’s Trust Bank
Atlanta, Georgia
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Citizen’s Trust Bank (CTB) is one of the oldest and largest minority owned banks in the Southeast, and the first African American owned bank in the United States to become a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
Long since located at 75 Piedmont Avenue in Atlanta, CTB had outgrown its executive offices, which were located adjacent to the retail branch bank on the first floor of the building. Relocating to the 12th floor of this building would enable CTB to expand their executive offices and co-locate their accounting and mortgage lending functions on the same floor within approximately 11,700 SF. CTB hired Heery to provide full design services from space planning through construction administration, as well as specifications of all new furniture for the office.
CTB’s main intent was to upgrade the image of the executive area and public spaces on the 12th floor with an emphasis on quality design and materials, but with attention to the budget. The bank’s rich history greatly influenced the design concept and the materials and finishes chosen for the space, as the overall aesthetic reflects the history and its people. The finishes are all of a neutral, monochromatic palette very much referencing the earth with accents of green to add vibrancy and contrast. Pattern was kept to a minimum with texture being more of an emphasis.
Overall, the restrained color palette, rich textures and warmth, and simple architectural detail create a space of quiet sophistication where the client’s history and mission are pushed to the forefront.
