Cal Tech - South Undergraduate Student Housing Renovation
Pasadena, California
This project consisted of four, two-story dormitory buildings connected by courtyards and walkways. The buildings are over 70 years old and located on the perimeter of the campus. Considered historic by the surrounding community and campus population, they were renovated rather than demolished and replaced. The project consisted of modernization, asbestos abatement, ADA compliance, new HVAC system, sitework and landscaping, new elevators, re-roofing, historic preservation of architectural features and lighting fixtures, new security access and new fire/life safety systems. The South Undergraduate Student Housing complex was fully vacated prior to Heery’s joining the project. Approximately 400 rooms were renovated and equipped with forced hot-air and air conditioning, where previously there was none. The buildings also contain food service facilities, food courts, dining areas, study and practice rooms, mechanical and electrical rooms.
