Anne Arundel County - Public Works and Utilities Capital Program

Annapolis, Maryland

In 2006, Anne Arundel County’s Department of Public Works once again selected Heery International to help them manage a rapidly growing workload of capital projects for the Department of Public Works.  This is the third time since 1987 that Heery has been selected by Anne Arundel County to assist with program management.  Approximately half of the capital projects became the responsibility of Heery to budget, plan and implement, working as agents for the County in the same capacity as the County’s in-house project management bureau.  With the immediate success of the program, and the increased number of projects being implemented, Heery was asked to fill a key position in purchasing to keep up with the workload created by the rapidly expanding capital program.  Projects include:

  • Cox Creek Water Reclamation Facility ENR Upgrade.  $120 million project to meet the ENR effluent goals at this 15 MGD WRF in accordance with Maryland Department of the Environment requirements.
  • Transmission Main – Odenton to Glen Burnie Pressure Zone.  $17 million project for  approximately 31,000 feet of 36-inch diameter Transmission Main from an existing intersection to a proposed water pressure boosting pump station.
  • Elevated Water Storage Tank – Ft. Smallwood.  $4.2 million project for a new two-million gallon elevated water storage tank, access road and associated appurtenances.
  • Herald Harbor Water Treatment Plant Upgrade.  $2.5 million project to replace an existing 0.5 MGD WTP with two new 0.5 MGD package treatment units.
  • Severndale Water Treatment Plant Upgrade.  $2.5 million project to upgrade a 9.0 MGD conventional WTP.
