Adams County District Attorney Offices
Brighton, Colorado
Unprecedented population growth in Adams County, which brought with it an increased workload, meant that the District Attorney offices outgrew their space, housed in the Adams County Administration Building. Adams County selected Heery in 2002 to design its new 65,000 SF building to house the District Attorney (DA) Office at the Adams Count Justice Center. The justice center is the new town center for Brighton, Colorado, the county seat, and within view of the Denver International Airport. Located on a six-acre green-field site along the north side of the justice center campus, the new DA building fronts the boulevard that connects the justice center to downtown Brighton.
Facing the boulevard along with east-west solar orientation and campus pedestrian circulation determined site arrangement, and the three-story building links directly to the justice center at the end of a tree-lined lane. The exterior distinctively complements the architecture of the 1998 justice center and relates to adjacent private office buildings.
The building primarily houses District Attorney Offices for the Colorado Seventeenth Judicial District sharing space and amenities with the County Public Trustee and Brighton Probation. The DA and county required separate parking area and lobby entrance for Probation, which is located at the opposite end of the building. DA offices are positioned along the exterior to enhance privacy for client meetings and provide views. A two-story atrium on the second and third floors creates a bright and spacious office environment.
